Taos Soil & Water Conservation District

Development Review

The Taos Soil & Water Conservation District was created to provide guidance on local conservation issues and encourage participation in conservation activities set forth in the Standard State Soil Conservation Districts Law (1937). Taos SWCD provides technical expertise to Taos County on land use, subdivision review, and natural resource conservation. As required by state statute, the District reviews subdivisions for compliance with county terrain management regulations and provides opinion in the development of local subdivision and land use regulations. Taos SWCD advocates responsible and sustainable development by assisting local governments, developers, and other entities in minimizing environmental impacts, conducting land use and technical reviews, and providing conservation and management input for county, state, and federal projects.
